Yes, you can! However we do not yet have a partner with validated media that we can recommend. When your facility has a TimeLapse system we will assist you with the analysing software adaptations that might require minor adaptations to fit your media.

Since it is based on culturing only viable culturable cells will be detected.

Since TimeLapse Imaging is based on culturing the method sensitivity is very comparable. The automated microscopic monitoring and image analysis will notice minute changes in the sample when micro organisms grow. This allows for true rapid microbial detection of viable and culturable micro organisms. Based on 100+ years of microbiological knowledge, just days faster.

Make sure no remnants of fluid are present on the surface of the micro sieve.

Check whether the sieve is not broken. Make sure that there are cells present on the micro sieve (and not disrupted or lysed during incorporated steps). Make sure staining procedure has been performed according to the protocol.

Make sure all solutions are clean; filtered through a 0.2 micrometer pore membrane. Perform additional wash steps before and/ or after staining.

This depends fully on the sample components and number of cells in the sample. For the rapid microbial detection of the bacterial load of pure water any sample volume will be filterable, however blood samples are limited – at this time – to a max of 1 ml.

We do not recommend re-using the micro sieves.

The pore size of the standard micro sieves is 0.45 micrometer. virtually all cells larger in diameter are retained on the sieve and will be detected by the MuScan after labelling.staining.

LumiByte and its partners have gained extensive knowledge on filtration of various matrixes. Samples that contain debris or are very visquos might need to be pretraited. Contact us to see if there is already a protocol available for your sample.

Both low numbers (as little as 1 cell) and high amounts (thousands) will be counted and analyzed correctly by the MuScan. In most cases it is not needed to prepare any additional dilution of your sample for rapid microbial detection and correct quantification.
